#1 SFTS's Northrop A-17 Nomad #3512 aircraft, flying in formation, was in a mid-air collision with another Nomad aircraft, #3521. As a result, both aircraft crashed into Lake Muskoka in Ontario and four young airmen lost their lives. In the search which followed, only Nomad #3512 was located; it wasn't until October 2012 that Nomad #3521's wreckage was finally recovered.

~RAF Flight Lieutenant Peter CAMPBELL and RCAF Leading Aircraftman Theodore Scribner BATES were flying Northrop A-17 #3521.
